CPF supports upholding of NLTP Act

DIMAPUR, MAR 19 (NPN):

Chümoukedima Pastors Fellowship (CPF) has extended its unequivocal support to the Nagaland Baptist Church Council (NBCC) in upholding the Nagaland Liquor Total Prohibition Act, 1989.
In a press release, CPF stated that the stand was not merely a matter of law but a moral and spiritual commitment to safeguard families, protect youth, and strengthen the social fabric.
The fellowship said alcohol has long been associated with broken families, domestic violence and financial instability, and that keeping liquor out of communities helps preserve the sanctity of family life and ensures safer environments for children.
CPF maintained that prohibition promotes healthier lifestyles, reduces the risks of addiction and disease, and reflects the values of discipline and sobriety upheld by the Naga people.
While acknowledging challenges such as illegal liquor trade and enforcement issues, the fellowship stressed that such obstacles should strengthen collective resolve rather than weaken it.
It called for enhanced collaboration among government agencies, civil society, churches and community organisations to address these concerns effectively.
CPF also suggested that NBCC and allied bodies intensify awareness campaigns, expand rehabilitation programmes for those affected by alcohol, and actively engage youth through sports, education and cultural initiatives.
Reaffirming its united stand, Chümoukedima Pastors Fellowship said sustaining the ban was essential for protecting lives and fostering a disciplined society. It urged continued efforts to build alcohol-free homes and a society strengthened by faith, unity and responsibility.
