DIMAPUR, MAY 22 (NPN): Chakhroma Public Organisation (CPO) and Nagaland Zeliang People’s Organisation (NZPO) have resolved to extend full cooperation to the state government for early completion of the foothill road project while opposing interference from organisations outside Peren and Chümoukedima districts.
In a press release, CPO president Zhato Kimho and NZPO president Zandi Domta said the resolution was adopted during a consultative meeting held at the CPO Hall, Chümoukedima, on May 22m 2026.
The two organisations appreciated the state government and civil society organisations (CSOs) for making the long-awaited Foothill Road project from Khelma to Tizit a reality.
However, CPO and NZPO resolved to jointly supervise necessary surveys and highway alignment works and affirmed that they would not allow any organisation from outside Peren and Chümoukedima districts to hamper the project’s progress.
They also urged the state government to pursue the matter with the Centre for expediting the proposed Trans-Nagaland National Highway (Foothill Road) and issuance of work orders to deserving firms at the earliest.
On the prevailing situation in Manipur, the two organisations expressed concern over the violence between Kukis and Nagas and condemned the May 13 ambush, mass abduction and killing of hostages at Leilon Vaiphei Village in Kangpokpi district.
Further, the two organisations resolved to organise a cultural exchange programme every three years in alternate districts of Peren and Chümoukedima to strengthen Tenyimia ties.
