CPO, SH resolve to strengthen brotherhood ties

Chakhesang Public Organisation (CPO) and Sümi Hoho (SH) resolved to strengthen the bond of brotherhood between the members of Chakhesang and Sümi communities. This was among several resolutions of the joint declaration made during the coordination meeting held at Chozuba village on May 18 between the two organisations.

CPO and SH also agreed to promote mutual support and assistance in times of need. The organizations resolved to forgive and forget the past incoherent behaviour or actions that created misunderstanding between the brethren, including September 5, 2023 incident at Chozuba town, which would be treated as a closed chapter. Consequent upon this, the Chozuba Range Public Organisation’s press statement of disassociation from Sumi-Chakhesang Brotherhood would be withdrawn with immediate effect.

Further, both the organisations committed to treating members of both the communities with dignity and respect, irrespective of their background, beliefs, or affiliations.
CPO and SH also agreed to maintain open and regular communication to address any issue or concern that might arise. In case of any dispute, a joint committee consisting of equal representatives from both the communities from the villages/areas would be constituted to mediate and resolve the matter amicably.

They agreed to advise their members to refrain from spreading misinformation and inflammatory comments on social media as it was detrimental to communal harmony.

Finally, it was agreed that any amendment to the joint declaration must be made in writing and signed by authorised representatives of both the parties. The organizations asserted that the joint declaration, signed by CPO president Vezuhu Keyho and SH president Nikheto Jimomi, has been made in the true spirit of brotherhood and would remain in effect indefinitely unless terminated with mutual consent by both sides.

Earlier, CPO vice president Vecito Dozo chaired the coordination meeting followed by sharing of views, concerns and suggestions to promote unity and brotherhood by leaders from both communities.
The meeting began with invocation by senior pastor Satakha Town Baptist Church Rev. Hukugha Zhimo, and concluded with a benediction by senior pastor Chakhesang Baptist Church Diphupar, Rev. Dr. Vezopa Tetseo.
