CPO welcomes formation of RRC; calls for equity

DIMAPUR, AUG 13 (NPN)

Chakhesang Public Organisation (CPO) has welcomed the State Government’s decision to constitute the Reservation Review Commission (RRC), describing it as a timely and decisive move to address disparities in Nagaland’s public employment system.
In a press release, CPO president Vezuhu Keyho and general secretary Chepetso Koza, said they acknowledged the government’s commitment to fairness, transparency, and inclusivity in its employment policy. The CPO expressed confidence that the Commission, once operational, would bring clarity and balance to the reservation framework, benefiting all communities across the state.
Referring to data from the PIMS and Census of India—previously published in local dailies on June 12, 2025—the CPO highlighted stark disparities in employment representation between advanced and backward tribes. It noted that while advanced tribes enjoy better access to education, resources, and job opportunities, backward tribes continue to face systemic challenges despite their cultural heritage and contributions to state development. CPO urged the State Government to carefully consider these disparities while drafting the revised reservation policy. It emphasized that safeguarding the interests of backward tribes is essential to promote social harmony and equitable development across all sections of society.
While welcoming the formation of the RRC, the CPO strongly advocated for the establishment of a Statutory Commission comprising independent and highly reputed experts. Such a body, it stated, must be empowered to conduct a comprehensive review of the existing policy and reflect the current socio-economic realities of Nagaland. The revised framework should aim to uplift underprivileged groups and bring them on par with advanced communities, thereby fulfilling the constitutional vision of equality and peaceful coexistence.
In conclusion, the CPO reaffirmed its commitment to collaborate with the State Government and all stakeholders to ensure that the RRC serves the best interests of Nagaland. The organisation expressed hope that collective efforts would lead to a fairer, more balanced employment policy.
