Child Protection Services (CPS), Social Welfare department, Nagaland organized a one-day training for master trainers under the theme, “Reducing Harm” at Hotel Ura, Kohima on October 29.
A press release from SCPS-Nagaland stated that the training was aimed at building skills of service providers for children on Child Victims of Sexual Abuse. Around 45 staff of District Child Protection Units (DCPU) from all districts participated in the training. The training module was developed by ARZ (Anyay Rahit Zindagi), an NGO based in Goa, working closely with victims of sexual abuse.
CPS Nagaland is planning to organize “Child Rights Week” from November 14 (National Children Day) to November 20 (International Child Rights Day) where these master trainers will organize extensive awareness campaigns against child sexual abuse in schools and child care institutions.
The department will also be organizing various other programs during the week such as photo exhibition, launching of cradles for unwanted babies at key points in Dimapur district and distribution of gifts to unprivileged children etc.
