In view of mudslides/landslides at multiple locations along Chathe, Paglapahar and New Chümoukedima stretches of NH-29, movement of vehicles between Chathe Bridge and New Chümoukedima bridge has been closed until restoration works are completed.
In an a advisory issued by the officiating Commissioner of Police-cum-DCP (HQ), Dimapur Y. Ruth Muru, alternate routes and timings have been arranged for vehicles travelling between Dimapur and Kohima. For Pimla–Mhainamtsi–Jharnapani/Medziphema route– Light Motor Vehicles (LMVs) are allowed to ply from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Heavy Motor Vehicles (HMVs) carrying essential goods (only up to six-wheelers) are allowed to ply along Pimla–Mhainamtsi–Jharnapani–Medziphema route from 6 p.m. to 12 a.m. effective September 15 and HMVs carrying essential goods (only upto six wheelers) from Medziphema-Jharnapani-Mhainamtsi-Pimla from 12 a.m. to 6 a.m. effective September 15.
For Niuland–Ghotovi–Zhadima route, only LMVs are allowed to ply. All travellers and transporters have been requested to strictly adhere to the above routes and timings for smooth and uninterrupted movement.
ANTA Wokha: In a separate press release, the All Nagaland Taxi Association (ANTA) Wokha Unit has advised its members to use the Wokha–Marachu (Merapani) route to reach Dimapur. The association has strictly instructed taxi operators to follow RTA-approved fare rates for the alternate route and warned that overcharging will not be tolerated.
