Chogin Range Students’ Union (CRSU) held its first General Conference at Tsosinyu Village under the theme “Be Prudent” from April 26 to 28 with Er. Chengato Kath, executive engineer, PWD (Housing) Division-1, Kohima as the guest speaker. He expounded on the theme and explained that a prudent person thinks ahead and prepares for the future.
Ramdi Thou, SDEO Tseminyu and Kisheto Kent, president, Rengma Students’ Union, delivered greetings during the inaugural function.
A tree plantation exercise and also community service were carried out on the third day of the conference, where around 200 saplings were planted during the morning session. A valedictory function was held in the afternoon session where cultural items such as folk dance, folk tune and traditional attire were displayed by the students. Dr. Kevi Swu exhorted the gathering during the function and encouraged the students to seek God first in order to excel in their lives.
Various competitions such as debate, Rengma folk tale narration and games etc. were part of the conference. The Union Assembly was held on the first day of the conference where various resolutions were adopted, including recognition of meritorious students, where they will be acknowledged by the CRSU.
Riga Khing and Michael Kath were selected as president and general secretary respectively for the tenure of 2018-21. The next General Conference will be hosted by Logwesunyu Students’ Union.
