CRSU seeks action against absentee teacher at GPS Nyinyem

DIMAPUR

The Changsang Range Student’s Union (CRSU) has submitted a formal representation to the Principal Director of School Education, Kohima, urging immediate disciplinary action against Sometnaro, a Primary Teacher posted at Government Primary School (GPS) Nyinyem, Tuensang, for alleged non-performance of duty.
According to the representation signed by president CRSU, Yongong Chang and chairman CRSU, CB Loyem Chang, the teacher has failed to report to the school for the entire academic session of 2025, even as the school prepares for final examinations. The CRSU had earlier raised the issue with the Senior Sub-Divisional Education Officer (Sr. SDEO) Tuensang on August 21, which led to an Explanation Call issued on August 22 and an undertaking signed by the concerned teacher on September 10. However, the union stated that no further action has been taken, and the teacher remains absent.
Terming the situation as a serious breach of duty, the CRSU expressed concern over the academic impact on students in the remote village of Nyinyem. The union emphasized that such negligence undermines the future of innocent children and called for strict enforcement of Government Service Rules.
The CRSU has appealed for an urgent replacement to be sanctioned before the end of October 2025 and requested that any action taken be duly communicated to the union.
