DIMAPUR: As part of the ongoing Census 2027 House Listing Operations (HLO), the house listing of the official residence of Chief Secretary Nagaland, Sentiyanger Imchen, was carried out in Kohima on July 3 in the presence of Deputy Commissioner & Principal Census Officer Kohima, B. Henok Buchem, and other Census officials.
On the same day, the house listing of Angami Public Organization (APO) president, Thejao Vihienuo, was conducted at his residence in Meriema, Kohima. The exercise was led by DC Buchem, accompanied by ADC Chiephobozou, Vekusheyi Rhakho, and Census officials.
Following the exercise, the Census team held discussions with Vihienuo on issues concerning Kohima district and matters relating to the ongoing Census 2027 HLO. Emphasising the importance of the Census, Vihienuo urged citizens to ensure accuracy in data collection, stating that honesty and integrity in the process would ultimately benefit Naga society by providing reliable information for planning and development. In Nagaland, the House Listing Operations and Housing Census under the first phase of the Census 2027 commenced on July 1, 2026 across all 17 districts of the state and continue till July 30.
Over 6,000 personnel, including enumerators and supervisors, have been appointed from various government departments to conduct the exercise.
In addition, 17 principal census officers, 17 district census officers, 157 charge officers, six master trainers and 130 field trainers have been designated for Census 2027 in Nagaland.
During the House Listing Operations phase, enumerators and supervisors will visit every household to collect data on housing conditions, basic amenities, and household assets. Households will answer 33 questions, with responses being entered directly into a mobile application.
A total of 1,606 villages will be covered under Census 2027.
The second phase, Population Enumeration, will begin in February 2027. It will collect demographic, socio-cultural, and economic data, along with information on migration and fertility.
