CS convenes second departmental review meet

Chief secretary (CS) of Nagaland, J Alam convened the second departmental meeting with Labour department and department of Employment, Skill Development & Entrepreneurship in the conference hall of the CS, Kohima, on February 11.
According to a DIPR report, Alam said that both Labour department and department of Employment, Skill Development & Entrepreneurship were important machineries of the state government and called upon the departments to be automated as much as possible. CS expressed satisfaction on seeing young dedicated officers in the department and observed that the departments were in good hands.
Stating that all registrations, renewals and payments should be done online for the benefit of the youth, shop owners and business establishments, Alam instructed both the departments to develop necessary software and to go online at the earliest. He also directed the departments to consult with IT&C department in the matter.
During a presentation, Labour department stated that various welfare schemes and programmes of the state and central governments were being implemented.
Nagaland Building and Other Construction Workers’ Welfare Board (NBOCW) was on such scheme where around 1,000 youth across the state have been trained to encourage them on taking up construction trade as fulltime career.
Meanwhile, department of Employment, Skill Development & Entrepreneurship in their presentation informed that under Skills Acquisition & Knowledge Awareness for Livelihood Promotion (SANKALP), one Entrepreneurs Development Centre on pilot at government ITI Complex, Kohima had been set up in collaboration with Indian Institute of Entrepreneurship (IIE), Guwahati as knowledge and implementation partner. It informed that the centre had been set up with the primary objective to train and promote local entrepreneurs and create a support mechanism to the enterprising youth to succeed and become job creators.
The department also informed that there were nine industrial training institutes across the state imparting various trades.
Other welfare programme and courses undertaken by the department were also highlighted in the presentation.
Later, the officials of the departments shared their grievances and issues pertaining to the implementation of schemes and projects.
It may be mentioned that this is the second departmental review meeting convened by the chief secretary with the purpose to discuss activities and issues faced by various departments.
