
Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) of Mangkolemba sub-division have urged upon the state government to provide “all weather road” along the 11km stretch road which connects Mangkolemba Town and many villages to the Mariani-Mokokchung road (NH 702-D) at the earliest.
In a press release, Mangkolemba Ao Lanur Telongjem (MALT) president, I. Tia Jamir and MALT general secretary, Sentimeren, stated that this was resolved during a consultative meeting of CSOs of Mangkolemba Sub Division on May 24 at Town Hall Mangkolemba.
MALT said the meeting discussed many pertaining acute problems and issues faced by the people of the sub division and deliberated on the pathetic condition of the11km road that connects Mangkolemba Town and many villages to the Mariani-Mokokchung road (NH 702-D) at Longnak.
The release stated that the meeting resolved to appeal the state government to provide an all weather road at the earliest by blacktopping and constructing proper drainage along the 11km road as it is the lifeline for the people of these areas.
MALT accused the state government of neglecting this important road for more than two decades and added that only the public and various NGOs have been repairing the road with soil and pebbles from time to time.
It pointed out that the road was in pathetic condition and requires urgent attention and action from the government.
The release stated that the meeting convened by MALT was attended by Range Hohos and Students’ Conferences of the three ranges of Jangpetkong, Japukong and Tsurangkong along with Mangkolemba Town Council and chairman and GBs of nine wards of Mangkolemba Town.
