Family Counselling Centre (FCC) under Care & Support Society (C&SS) Mokokchung organised a one-day awareness programme on “Child Rights” at multipurpose hall, Imkongmeren Sports Complex on April 7.
A press release from C&SS, managing director, Imchawati Kichu stated that advocate Purnungsang, Dr. Arenla (Child Welfare Committee) and T. Asula Imsong, protection officer (NIC) were the resource persons for the programme. They discussed the topics “Child Rights” and their rights to survival, protection, their rights to development, rights to participation and protection from child abuse, child labour, child trafficking, sexual abuse etc. The resource persons also discussed issues on child discrimination wherein it was noted that child protection units had been made available to provide care and protection to children in all districts of Nagaland. They urged the public and students to join hands and make Mokokchung district a child friendly environment.
The programme was chaired by Yangerienla FCC (counsellor) and the invocation was said by assistant teacher, Bendangla. Imchawati Kichu, delivered the vote of thanks.
