Chungtia Students Union (CSU) is all set to host Moatsü, the premiere festival of the Ao Nagas on May 3.
The festival this year will be celebrated not only amongst its citizens but with students from Mumbai University. The program is being held through the initiative of Nagaland governor P. B Acharya and the Indian National Fellowship Centre. Under this initiative, a team of students from Mumbai University will visit Chungtia village and stay for a period of seven days as part of a cultural exchange program between the student bodies. The educational program aims to promote Ao Naga culture and strengthen the relationship between the students with various educational institutions of importance in the country.
During the course of the stay, the visiting students will be treated to a number of activities like community fishing, historical site visits, arts and handicraft demonstration and traditional games. All the activities will start from May 1 and will continue till the May 7. The Chungtia Students Union, meanwhile, will be organizing a grand Moatsü program on May 3 with Nagaland governor P.B Acharya and the Mumbai University Students’ as special invitees of the program at the Play ground of GMS Sabangya Compound, Chungtia. The program will witness presentation of folk music and cultural performances while the Mumbai University students will present cultural experiences. The program will also witness cultural extravaganzas including indigenous games and display of handloom and handicrafts. There will also be a Moatsü feast after the program. While talking to Imkongjeba Kichu, the president of CSU said that they were thrilled to open doors to friends from Mumbai University and added that it was a great honour that friends from the mainland were so interested to learn about Naga culture and traditions and want to stay in the village for seven days. He also assured the people that the guests would enjoy the best of Ao hospitality and have great things to say about our people and culture to the outside world after they leave.
