CSU resents regularization of147 contractual asst. professors

Chakhroma Students’ Union (CSU) has expressed resentment over the regularization of 147 contractual assistant professors under the department of higher education, saying the move has triggered wide concern among students, aspirants, scholars and responsible citizens.

CSU affirmed that it “vehemently” condemned “this arbitrary decision” that undermined meritocracy. The union further said the decision violated the principles of transparency and fairness besides circumventing the constitutionally mandated recruitment process under NPSC.

CSU said that absorption of 147 contractual assistant professor without adherence to established recruitment rules was a form of backdoor appointment, which it maintained promoted “a dangerous culture of favouritism, nepotism” setting a deeply damaging precedent for all future appointments in the state.

Further, the union said that the decision compromised the future of thousands of qualified students and aspirants, whose years of hard work, academic dedication, and faith in the system were rendered meaningless.

Therefore, CSU demanded immediate revocation of the absorption notification and ensure that all appointments henceforth follow constitutional norms, recruitment rules, and fair competitive processes.

The union also demanded institutional safeguards to prevent future backdoor entries across departments. It urged the government to assure that all future appointments would follow constitutional and legal procedures, with transparency and accountability.
