Chakhesang Students’ Union (CSU) would be celebrating its platinum jubilee in the month of February, 2022.
Announcing this during a press conference here on Thursday, central organising committee (COC) convenor, Mütsikhoyo Yhobu said they were hoping to bring the people together during the celebrations.
He said CSU was the mother organisation for all the other organisations of the community.
Yhobu added CSU was formed in 1947 during a very crucial stage especially in the political and Naga movement and that it had been representing the community in the various platforms.
He observed that there was a special unity in the Chakhesang community which could be emulated by the other Naga tribes and therefore CSU wanted to display the unity through the jubilee.
Yhobu, who was former president of Naga Students Federation (NSF) added that after its formation, Chakhesang Students’ Union had been a backbone of the apex Naga student body.
Another member of COC added that the motto for the jubilee was “Towards a refined guild” which, he said, was befitting and was in line with CSU’s motto, “Let the welfare of the people be the final law.”
With the celebration we pray the community will be blessed and also it would bring the Naga family closer, added another member.
Although a proper date is yet to be finalised, the organisers disclosed that they had set a tentative date for the jubilee in the first or second week of February.
Members of COC and CSU and senior leaders involved in the organizing committee attended the presser.
