
Chakhesang Students’ Union Dimapur (CSUD) celebrated its 28th freshers day-cum-social gathering on Saturday at town hall, Dimapur, graced by president NPCC, K.Therie as guest speaker.
Speaking on the occasion, Therie urged upon the students to understand the hard reality of today’s world. He challenged the students to devote themselves during their short span in order to crack competitive exams and become selfless leaders and assets to society.
He advised the students to get away from anti-social activities and choose to live meaningful life, to be agents of change in society.
Therie said education without ability to earn held no meaning, whereby he encouraged the students to look for something where they could really harvest and bear fruits from the seeds.
He informed the gathering that politics was not for corruption, but politics was for welfare of the people and to serve people as according to the oath taken under the constitution.
He mentioned that Chakhesang tribe has been known in the state due to the rich culture, tradition and custom inherited from forefathers.
Earlier, the programme was compeered by Neipeü Letro and Meciete-ü Kenye, while God’s blessing was invoked by senior pastor, CBC Dimapur, Rev.Dr.Weyiete Lohe.
Welcome address was delivered by president CSUD, Veseta Rhakho abd special prayer for the freshers was pronounced by Pastor, CBC Toulazouma, Velhüzo Swuro.
Speech on behalf of the freshers was given by Vekholu Nienu and solidarity speeches was delivered by president, Western Chakhesang Hoho, Vekhosayi Nyekha, president WCYO, Likalo Letro, president TSUD, Azo Wetsah and president, Chakhesang gazette officers association Dimapur, Zhothisa Dawhuo.
Other highlights of the programme included special presentation by CBC Dimapur youth department and CSU Patkai Christian college and indigenous song by CBC Toulazouma youth department.
The programme also witnessed release of CSUD constitution by guest speaker.
Vote of thanks was proposed by general secretary CSUD, Sedelo T Vadeo and closing prayer by women pastor, CBC Dimapur.
