CSUD questions DDADU president’s action

DIMAPUR, JUN 23 (NPN)

Chakhesang Students Union Dimapur (CSUD) has expressed dismay over the recent press conference (PC) by Dimapur District Autorickshaw Drivers Union (DDADU) president concerning alleged molestation incident that occurred on June 15.
In a press note, CSUD president Vesülhü Ringa and general secretary Husuve Lohe questioned the manner in which a union and its representatives were allowed to interrogate the accused auto driver and share his narrative in the public domain when the case was under investigation. The union expressed resentment against DDADU and its president for “giving a press conference basing on one sided narrative.”
CSUD said DDADU should have approached its apex bodies or victim family and “move forward.”
Further, the union asked what situation or incident compelled a young lady to jump from a moving auto on a highway and put her life at risk. “What so difficult for the driver to hear or understand. It could be of very rare cases of this kind that a lady jumps off a moving auto to save her dignity,” CSUD stated.
The union has, however, expressed its faith in the law enforcement agencies and judiciary to safeguard the rights and bring justice to their sister.
Appreciating the solidarity shared, CSUD, however, said it did not condone the one-sided narrative, which, it maintained “could interpret in many contexts.”
Therefore, the union hoped that holding such press conferences in the future should be considered and deal with the case more sensibly.
