CTAN calls off agitation after dept terminates 2 JSCOs

Correspondent

The Combined Technical Association of Nagaland (CTAN) on Tuesday called off its dharna outside the Directorate of Soil and Water Conservation office after the department complied with their demand by terminating the alleged illegal appointment of two junior soil conservation officers (JSCOs).

In an order, the department said that the contract services of the two JSCOs– Avilie Nagi and H Agape Yeputhomi have been terminated “w.e.f. 07/03/2024 in view of the declaration of NPSC result vide its Notification No. NPSC/EXAM-3/2023 dated 06th March 2024.”
Addressing the media, CTAN convener Meshenlo Kath reiterated the demand for termination of the two JSCOs, besides seeking regularisation of employees in Group A and Group B posts appointed prior June 6, 2016.

He pointed out that if services of those working for 10 years were not regularised, their careers would be affected due to appointments made through the Nagaland Public Service Commission (NPSC). He said this was a wake-up call for everyone not to remain silent and fight for their rights.

“The government is taking advantage because we are silent,’ he remarked. Kath said he was happy that the two JSCOs had been terminated, but declared that the association would not stop at this and continue to raise their voice in other departments too to bring about transparency, give opportunity to all aspirants and do away with backdoor appointments.
