CTAN, CEAN stage sit-in protest

Members of combined technical association of Nagaland (CTAN) and civil engineers association of Nagaland (CEAN) staged sit-in demonstration outside the office of Nagaland PWD here on Monday demanding immediate termination of all illegal appointments made without any advertisement.

The two bodies also submitted a memorandum to the engineer-in-chief NPWD and demanded the department to terminate the services of SO Grade-II, draftsmen and surveyor appointed between June 6, 2016 and August 10, 2018.

The associations affirmed that they would not allow any departmental exam till their demands were made.

CTAN and CEAN pointed out that a representation to the department on February 7 and another letter on November 25. The associations, however, lamented that the responsible department had failed to pay heed and address the grievances of the educated unemployed youth.

The associations have, therefore, appealed to the authority for immediate termination of all illegal appointments and advertise all the posts along with existing vacancies. The associations warned that their peaceful sit-in protest would intensify if there was delay in delivering justice.

Meanwhile, deputy chief engineer of NPWD, Er. P.I. Imna Ao informed that commissioner and secretary (works & housing) has convened meeting in the office chamber of commissioner and secretary, works and housing department Nagaland on December 17 at 11am with the representatives of the CTAN and CEAN.
