Combined Technical Association of Nagaland (CTAN), along with the Nagaland Net Qualified Forum (NNQF) have demanded the revocation of the government order dated December 17, 2024, which permitted the absorption of 147 contractual Assistant Professors and Librarians into regular posts in the Higher Education Department.
They cautioned that failure to act on their demands would lead to peaceful protests outside the Directorate of Higher Education beginning April 16, 2025.
CTAN convenor Er. Meshenlo Kath and NNQF member Videkhono Yhokha said the absorption/regularisation, effected through December 18, 2024 government notification, amounted to backdoor appointments and was in direct violation of established recruitment norms and government directives.
The technical and NET-qualified aspirants pointed out that the P&AR department’s Office Memorandum dated June 6, 2016 had imposed a ban on contract appointments, and hence, any appointments made after that date should be deemed invalid.
CTAN and NNQF strongly demanded immediate cancellation of December 17, 2024 government order and termination of all assistant professors/librarians appointed or absorbed after June 6, 2016, under the pretext of contractual employment.
