Combined Technical Association Nagaland (CTAN) and Nagaland NET Qualified Forum (NNQF) have warned of escalating their agitation if the state government failed to meet their demands by April 28.
Following an invitation from the Minister for Higher Education, the two associations met with him at his official residence on Saturday at 9:30 a.m.
In a joint statement, CTAN and NNQF informed that several key agreements were reached during the meeting.
They stated that it was decided the cabinet order dated December 17, 2024, regarding the absorption and regularisation of 147 posts of Assistant Professors and Librarians, would be revoked.
Further, it was agreed that the committee constituted during the emergency cabinet meeting on April 21, 2025, would be dissolved. The associations said the Higher Education minister assured them that the formal written copies of the revocation order and committee dissolution would be handed over by Monday afternoon, (April 28).
However, CTAN and NNQF cautioned that if the formal documents are not provided by the stipulated time, the ongoing agitation will be intensified beyond the scale witnessed over the previous four days.
Meanwhile, the two bodies announced that they would hold an official press conference on Monday after receiving the formal documents.
NSF calls for democratic agitation if cabinet order not revoked: Naga Students’ Federation (NSF) has directed all its federating units to mobilize volunteers for a democratic agitation scheduled to commence on April 29, 2025, in the event that the state government failed to revoke the Cabinet Order dated December 17, 2024, pertaining to the regularization of 147 contractual Assistant Professors under the Department of Higher Education.
In a notification the federation stated that the decision to initiate agitation was taken in pursuance of a resolution adopted during its presidential council meeting held on April 25, 2025. NSF reminded that a seven-day ultimatum had earlier been served to the State Government on April 22, 2025, which would expire on April 28, 2025.
According to the notification, all federating units have been instructed to assemble at NSF Oking, Naga Solidarity Park, Kohima, by 9am sharp on April 29, 2025, should the state government fail to meet the demand. NSF asserted that the first phase of democratic agitation would be initiated on that day.
