The culmination program of PMKSY-WDC the erstwhile IWMP projects 3 & 4 under batch II, Dimapur district, department of Land Resources was held today at the Research Center of the department, Ruzaphema, with parliamentary secretary of Land Resources and Excise, B. S. Nganlang as chief guest.
Speaking on the occasion, Nganlang congratulated the department and the farmers on successful completion of the batch stating that a team work of departmental officials and farmers and active participation with dedication was required the for success of projects.
He said Nagaland was very rich in natural resources, which should be made best use of for the benefit of the people and encouraged the farmers to utilise the wasteland and barren land to plant trees to increase forest covers in the state and to increase their economy. He also distributed WDF cheques to WC/WMB members.
Secretary, Land Resources, Kikheto Sema (IAS) reflected on the formation of the department and how the field staff of the department is doing a commendable work.
Delivering a short speech, additional deputy commissioner, Medziphema, Vekhweno Chale stressed on the need to increase forest covers and preservation of ground water for the future.
General manager, NABARD congratulated the department on completion of batch II.
Hoto Yeptho, director, Land Resources presented a brief report on IWMP and PMKSY.
Hekato Yeptho, district project officer, LRD Dimapur gave a detailed presentation on PMKSY-WDC activities under batch II which was implemented during 2007-2010.
Vanjamo Murry and Botoholi T. Yeptho shared their experience on behalf of the batch II members.
Ave Lohe, WC chairman, Zangdi village and Shikuto Zalipu, WC chairman, Shikuto village said short speeches on behalf of the watershed committees.
Vimelie Sechu, pastor, Ruzaphema Baptist Church said the invocation prayer.
Word of thanks was proposed by Renben Jami, additional director, Land Resources and supervising officer for Dimapur district.
