As part of Kohima village Sekrenyi festival, Kohima Village Youth Organization (KVYO) cultural competition was held on February 21 at Kohima village ground, Ziekezou.
The festival was held with the support of the Parliamentary Secretary for Youth Resources & Sports, New & Renewable Energy and Music Task Force, Khriehu Liezietsu.
Chairman of Kohima village council, Neivor Rutsa, in his greetings, asked the gathering to let Sekrenyi festival be a festival of understanding, brotherhood, one-ness and bear the spirit of sharing.
He said the festival should be a time to promote and preserve the high moral values and rich culture, which he said signifies one’s identity.
Speaking on the occasion, Project Director of Music Task Force, Gugs Chishi, said each Naga tribe should celebrate the festival with a purpose to motivate the younger generation to preserve and value “our” rich culture and traditions.
He said the festival should be celebrated with an objective to unite and society and promotes oneness.
In the festivals, several Peli (Peer group) groups and individuals from the four Khels of Kohima village took part in various competitions.
Ministers, Parliamentary Secretaries and legislators from the State Legislative Assembly also attended the function and witnessed the events.
