
Cultural performances by various tribes of Nagaland marked the third day of the Hornbill Festival at the Heritage Kisama village on December 3.
According to DIPR report, the morning session was graced by general commanding officer, 4 Corps, Tezpur, Lt. Gen. Ravin Khosla AVSM, SM, VSM, as the guest of honour and minister for Public Health Engineering, Jacob Zhimomi and advisor Sericulture, Excise and Minority Affairs, Zhaleo Rio were the hosts.
The following tribes performed their colourful traditional dances and music during the day-long cultural extravaganza: Zeliang Cultural Troupe (Charing Lin), Kuki (Suhta Cam), Yimkhiung Cultural Troupe (Wochak Khintam), Sumi Cultural Troupe (Apilo Kuwo), Sangtam Cultural Troupe (Sangtam throngrü Nyichi khi), Rengma Cultural Troupe (Loshü Khwe), Kachari Cultural Troupe (Chotrolee folk dance), Pochury cultural troupe (Tenon Pasu), Chakhesang cultural troupe (Tukhuhe).
In the afternoon session, cultural performances were presented by the Ao cultural troupe with the title Naga Wadir Yar (Naga Wadir’s Dance), Phom cultural troupe performed Kyong-Nya-Yong (Graceful dance), Konyak cultural troupe Yah Lahpu (Head hunting), Lotha cultural troupe presented Rice bounding folk song while Khiamniungan cultural troupe performed Po-Hoi Jihang (Dormitory song), Garo cultural troupe presented quarrel dance and Chang cultural troupe performed Khüngkhün wansatyung (traditional way of fire making).
The hosts for the evening cultural programme were minister for Planning and Coordination, Land Revenue, Neiba Kronu and advisor Skill Development, Labour and Employment, CAWD, Kazheto Kinimi.
