Current ‘incited political quagmire’ would be lawfully resolved: Zeliang

Chief minister T.R. Zeliang said the current “incited political quagmire” would be lawfully and constitutionally resolved as he has upheld all principles as a party worker and legislator in holding the office and seat of the chief minister of Nagaland with responsibility and dignity.
Stating this at a press conference held at his residential office Wednesday, the chief minister informed that Nagaland Baptist Church Council (NBCC) was also trying to bring reconciliation between the two groups.
T.R. Zeliang confessed, that the “spate of lies emanating from the dissident group” against him, had left him dumbfounded and also dismayed.
He said the “NPF dictators” claimed that the issue of change of leadership was an internal party affair but by seeking support from DAN partners, it amounted to destabilising a duly elected coalition government.
Further, Zeliang said the setting up of a parallel NPF party by the dissidents and suspending him and four of his colleagues was like a “mock parliament session held in schools and colleges” but added, that only a floor test in the Assembly would resolve the matter. While saying it was not for him to direct the Governor’s office on how to respond, yet the chief minister expressed confidence that the central BJP leadership which was watching the developments in the state, would agree that only a special Assembly session for a floor test was inevitable.
Zeliang also reminded legislators in Sovima camp that they were elected on NPF party ticket and were bound to abide by the constitution of India to which they had taken oath of allegiance.
On the Black money issue, which he was accused of by the Kaito group, the chief minister informed that he has instructed the home department to request union ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) to order a speedy investigation in to the allegations of “black money” transfer to overseas account.
Zeliang said such a probe would establish the facts, in keeping with the transparent policy that his government had to follow.
Pointing out that though the state government did not favour of probes by central agencies, the chief minister said it had become a matter of principle so as to expose the extent to which his detractors were personally maligning him.
On the bank transaction documents, Zeliang repeated the findings of the NPF Legal Cell and bank experts wherein they detected several anomalies.
He said the date of receipt of cash as mentioned in the bank document was 16.03.2014, which was five months earlier to the date of processing as indicated by the date 16.08.2014 that was mentioned in the same bank document.
Zeliang also pointed out that the figures in the documents showed them in lakhs and crores, whereas in foreign countries figures were written in millions.
He also reiterated that neither he nor his wife had any bank account in any foreign bank nor any intention to do so.
It may be mentioned that the allegation of alleged black money laundering has made the state ask the central government to order probes by central agencies.
The chief minister maintained that the government was functioning well as ministers and parliamentary secretaries were attending office regularly.
He also informed that two ministers who were dropped and their resignations were forwarded to Nagaland Governor on Tuesday.
Zeliang expressed the hope that legislators in the dissident camp would realise the rules of party constitution and return back to the party fold. He said the door for legislators including those suspended, was always open, if they return and apologise for their actions.
