As part of the observance of “National Postal Week” from October 9 to 13, “Customer Meet” was held on Thursday at Hotel Cimorb conference hall, Kohima. The ‘Customer Meet’ was organised with the hope to build long lasting rapport and support each customer needs.
Postmaster General NE 2 Region, Som Kamei felicitated DNK/BNPL customers. In his short speech, he informed that Nagaland have now administrative control over their own parcel hub and hoped it will cater to the needs of the people efficiently. He reminded that they were continuously striving for better and efficient services to give faster service. He said mail and parcels are their main services but added they are also providing banking services even in the remote villages.
Informing that India Post Payment Bank (IPPB) gives fast and better service for the people even in the village area, he appealed the government to give them a mandate to open account. He informed that all their 357-branch office in Nagaland have digitised banking services and all their services are user friendly as it can all be done online now.
The program was followed by presentation by Daniel Domeh where he highlighted on Dak Ghar Niryat Kendra (postal export centres). “These are designated post offices for facilitating booking and dispatch of commercial export parcels. DNK is also a website where exporters can register themselves and book foreign export parcels. It is fully commercial in nature and not meant for personal parcels”, he added. He also informed that DNK is conceptualised to promote small entrepreneurs (MSMEs) and cater to international exporters in places like the North East and in this system, the exporter will log into the DNK website (https://dnk.cept.gov.in) and get themselves registered.
Domeh stated that exporters can book articles in the comfort of their homes and bring the booked articles to the DNK centre (Post Office) for dispatch. The DNK (Post Office) through its dedicated counters will induct the booked article in the Postal System and despatch it to the destination country through designated Foreign Post Offices.
He highlighted that there are fine Dak Ghar Niryat Kendras in Nagaland: Kohima Head Post Office, Dimapur Sub Post Office, Mokokchung Sub Post Office, Jalukie Sub Post office and Phek Sub Post Office and they are working forward to reach all districts.
The second was the Book Now Pay Later (BNPL) where bulk customer is eligible for credit facility provided, he enters in to an agreement with the department. He highlighted that bulk customer shall pay the bill amount in full on or before last day of the month in which bill is raised (due date). Superintendent of Post, Nagaland L Tiken Singh delivered the welcome address.
