CVC objects to use ofterm ‘Pagala Pahar’

Chümoukedima Village Council (CVC) has expressed disappointment over the use of the term “Pagala Pahar” while referring to the Tsiedukhru Range.
In a public notice, CVC chairman Razouvotuo Chatsu and GB Khriezo Shüya stated several media houses, social media users, and YouTubers “continue to use this disparaging term” despite repeated public clarifications to refrain from referring to the term.
CVC said that Tsiedukhru Range, which was closely tied to the village’s folklores and legends, holds deep traditional and historical significance for Chümoukedima and its natives.
The village council stated that reducing a revered place of heritage to a slang term was not only offensive but also “an intentional attempt to undermine and belittle the village’s history.”
CV has, therefore, affirmed that henceforth, any person, group, or agency using the slang “Pagala Pahar” in reference to Tsiedukhru Range would face appropriate legal action or punitive measures as deemed fit under customary practice.
