Chakhesang Women Welfare Society (CWWS) Pfutsero and North East Initiative Development Agency (NEIDA) Kohima organized “drip irrigation” launching-cum-on-field demonstration program at Tsupfume village on December 13 and 14.
In a press release issued by CWWS Pfutsero stated that speaking at the program, senior project associate NEIDA, Imnashin Jamir stated that targeting rabi season-the season when vegetables were in demand, efficiency in water management could go a long way in achieving desirable market sources and benefits. Executive director CWWS, Vechulo-u Kanuo exhorted the farmers to take maximum advantage of the project support. She also asserted that as small holding farmers, the only economic breakthrough that a farmer can envisage is through optimal utilization of the resources available. About 157 farmers attended the launching program.CWWS further informed that CWWS in partnership with NEIDA-an initiative of TATA Trusts has been implementing a sustainable livelihoods promotion project covering 25 villages across Kikruma, Chizami and Pfutsero block under Phek district. The project is funded by Tata Trusts and supported by Government of Nagaland.
