Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority (NSDMA) informed that Nagaland would not have any adverse affect due to Cyclone ‘Amphan’, which made landfall in West Bengal at 2:30 pm on Wednesday, but normal rain and thundershowers would continue for a few days particularly evening/night.
In a press release, secretary NSDMA, Lhouchalie Viya, informed that rain/thundershowers activity would be intense from May 25, 2020 onwards and last five days (May 27-31, 2020) which may become heavier. Thunder squalls with severe lightening were also expected during this period, NSDMA stated.
In view of the uncertainty associated with forecasted tracks of any cyclonic system and the likelihood of heavy rainfall in the region, NSDMA has urged all the DDMAs and the other line departments to be prepared. NSDMA has also advised the public to undertake precautionary measures in anticipation of likely heavy rainfall and strong winds.
