CYO and WSYF condemn assault on students, call for restraint

DIMAPUR: The Chakhroma Youth Organisation (CYO) and Western Sumi Youth Front (WSYF) have jointly issued a press communiqué condemning the assault of two minor students from Thilixu Village in Chümoukedima district on May 30.
In a joint press communiqué issued by president of WSYF, Atokiho Sumi and president of CYO, Medochüzo Medoze, both organizations described the incident as “unfortunate and unacceptable” in a society that values mutual respect, peace and child protection.
They clarified that the act was committed by certain individuals and should not be interpreted along tribal lines.
The communiqué emphasized the importance of maintaining long-standing cordial relationships, mutual respect, and cooperation between the two communities.
It urged the public, especially the youth, to refrain from spreading rumors, misinformation or hateful comments that could cause misunderstanding or tension.
The youth bodies further called for lawful handling of the matter and full cooperation with authorities during the investigation.
They reaffirmed their commitment to peace, justice, social harmony and the dignity, security and respect of every individual.
