Chümoukedima Village Youth Society (CVYS) has reiterated its standing resolution on ban on hunting, fishing, foraging of vegetables, fodder/wood/ collection and any other activities that deplete flora and fauna under Chümoukedima Village jurisdiction.
In a press release CYVS cautioned violators would be sternly dealt with, and penalty of not less than Rs 1 lakh depending on severity of the act.
CYVS has also prohibited carrying firearms inside village jurisdiction cautioning that all types of firearms intended to be used for hunting would be confiscated and processed for license cancellation, while unlicensed Firearms/ Air rifles or any other hunting tools would be confiscated and destroyed on the spot.
The society also warned that starting wildfire by any individuals or parties causing such irreparable devastation, will face severest action and a punitive fine of Rs. 5 lakh or more depending on severity of destruction. It also warned that legal action would also be initiated upon culprit(s), to be booked as per provision of the Law.
With old Chümoukedima Heritage Village becoming a favored site for trekkers, picnic parties and visitors, CVYS has appealed the visitors to maintain and care the heritage site and public amenities, mentioning that there was alarming trend of vandalizing/defacing monuments and public rest houses by miscreants.
It stated that such impetuous acts would not be tolerated and any person if caught would be sternly dealt with. Visitors have also been directed to dispose their waste/trash responsibly in pits/waste bins, especially plastic waste, and no person would be allowed to loiter at heritage village after 6 pm.
CVYS further appealed all to adhere to cautionary signboards put up within its jurisdiction, including speed limits and prohibition of underage driving inside village jurisdiction.
To curb rising criminal activities of robbery, drug peddlers and public nuisance, CVYS has restricted loitering inside village jurisdiction without genuine reason after 8 pm.
