DAKSHATA training for health workers culminates

A three-day DAKSHATA, a national level initiative for empowering health workers for high quality care during childbirth, training for health workers organised by District Health Society (DHS) Wokha culminated on March 28.


A press release by the office of Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Wokha stated that addressing the health workers at the Conference Hall of Dr. Motsuo Memorial District Hospital Wokha, CMO Wokha, Dr. Zubenthung Kikon, thanked the DHS team for organising the training to enhance the skills of the service providers in the district.


Resource person for the training, medical officer, Community Health Centre (CHC) Viswema, Dr. Ayo Tha-o, gave a brief introduction to DASHATA and highlighted the importance of ensuring quality care in maternal health.


Dr. Ayo also spoke on normal delivery and active management of the third stage of labour, prevention, identification and management of PPH, organisation of labour room as per government of India guidelines.


Resource person, community health officer, Health and Wellness Centre Pongitong, Wokha, Sorenpeni Lotha, took sessions on safe childbirth checklist to improve quality of care, training pregnant women, empowering birth companion, triaging pregnant women, prevention, identification and management of newborn infections, breastfeeding and assisted feeding for newborn.


The resource persons also gave practical demonstrations using dummies and mannequins during the training. The participants included medical officers, staff nurses and community health officers from various health centres in the district.
