DAKSHATA training for health workers in Wokha

District level DAKSHATA training for health workers was conducted at Conference Hall, District Hospital (DH), Wokha from March 5 to 7. The training commenced with welcome address by Dr. Mhonchan Kithan, Medical Superintendent, DH Wokha.

In his speech, Dr. Kithan called upon the health workers to equipped themselves with knowledge on safe labour room practices and perform their duty sincerely at the health facilities.


Resource persons for the training were Dr. Benchumi Humtsoe, Medical Officer (Obs & Gynae) DH Wokha and Sorenpeni Lotha, Community Health Officer (CHO), Pongitong Health and Wellness Centre. Dr. Humtsoe said DAKHSATA stood for ‘Skill’ and its primary goal was to empower health workers with evidence based practices for maternity care during labour and delivery to reduce maternal and neonatal mortality.


During the three-day training, session on quality care in labour room, stages of labour, safe childbirth checklist, monitoring vitals, partograph, care of mother and new born immediately after delivery, new born infections, safe delivery application etc. were taken by the resource persons.

Practical demonstration on normal delivery, ENBC and new born resuscitation were also conducted. Medical officers, CHOs, ANMs and staff nurses from various health centres in the district attended the training.
