DAN conducts workshop on child rights

Development Association of Nagaland (DAN) under its “Morung”, a project aimed at ensuring child rights to education and protection of children from exploitations conducted a “half yearly review and synergy development workshop” in the village panchayat hall, Phek village, on September 16.

Resource person of the programme, district child protection officer, Phek, Ketobu Vitsu spoke on children in need of care and protection and role of the Village level Child Protection Committee (VLCPC).

He encouraged the members to work hand in hand with Child Welfare Committee (CWC) and highlighted the types of schemes and funds available for children who were economically weak.

In this regard, he stressed on the system of people indulging in malpractices and urged the people to do away with it and to let eligible child avail the benefits.

Probation officer SCPS, Ayang also spoke on “children in conflict with law” while APM Avino Merlin Zao briefed about the organisation and the project.

The programme was chaired by council secretary of Phek village Vepichu and vote of thanks was delivered by VCC Kuzhonecho. Altogether, 56 people participated in the programme.
