DIMAPUR: Development Association of Nagaland (DAN), the social mission arm of the Diocese of Kohima, carried out an emergency relief distribution on August 11,2026 for households in Naginimora affected by the severe flash floods of July 19, 2026.
The floods left several families without shelter, belongings or livelihood. In response, DAN mobilised support from the Diocese of Kohima and worked closely with local leadership and the district administration to identify beneficiaries and coordinate the distribution.
The programme was held at the residence of the president of Konyak Union, Naginimora. Each affected household received a ration kit containing groceries, sanitation items, mosquito nets and mattresses, addressing both immediate survival needs and basic health concerns.
The distribution was attended by Honheih Konyak, president of KU Naginimora; N. Nyamok Konyak, EAC Naginimora; and Rev. Wensha Konyak, pastor of Naginimora Baptist Church. Chinge M. Konyak, KU secretary, coordinated with the DAN team to ensure smooth proceedings. Altogether 100 affected families identified by KU received the support.
Rev. Fr. Sajan Joseph, director of DAN, addressed the gathering, encouraging families to remain resilient and assuring them of DAN’s continued solidarity. The intervention was made possible through timely financial support from the Diocese of Kohima’s disaster relief fund.
DAN reaffirmed its commitment to stand with the people of Naginimora as they begin the process of recovery and rebuilding.
