Leaders of DAN coalition partners including Naga People’s Front (NPF), JD (U) and NCP Nagaland State unit have met the State Governor on January 25 and urged the latter to help bring an end to the overdue tussle through the constitutional means without fear or favor or further delay.
NPF Central Press Bureau said the State unit BJP, a major partner in the DAN coalition, could not be a signatory on the plea that it had to abide by its High Command’s directive to stay neutral vis-à-vis the inner party struggle within the NPF.
The team included Mhonjan Lotha and Er. TL Semdok, presidents of Nagaland state unit JD (U) and NCP respectively, including the Secretary General, KG Keneye and working presidents Apong Pongener and Huskha Yepthomi of NPF Central Hqs. Kohima and several members.
The visiting team of the DAN coalition party organizations apprised the Governor of the ground realities of the lingering hardship caused by the rebel NPF legislators for no agenda of mass benefit other than the selfish and tacit intend of a few vested interests, trying all nefarious means, determined to dislodge the state’s DAN coalition Government under Chief Minister TR Zeliang and appealed to him that a floor test in the state assembly, as recommended by the cabinet, be summoned at the earliest in the interest of the public.
While apprising him of the ground reality and deliberated at length on the root causes of the current imbroglio, the DAN joint Memorandum was also submitted to the Governor.
Maintaining that the voice of the political parties which is the voice of the people needs to be heeded to, and as there is no alternative but to go by the constitutional system, the DAN coalition leaders has urged the Governor, who is the guardian of the constitution, to call the floor test at the earliest without fear or favor.
