DAN organises advocacy & strategy development meet

A district level advocacy and strategy development meeting with the stakeholders cum general election and assembly of district level children’s parliament was organised by the Children’s Parliament Initiative (CPI) under the aegis of the Development Association of Nagaland (DAN) on April 29 at DAN Training Centre.
A press release by DAN stated that the guest speakers were coordinator of Child Helpline, District Child Protection Unit (DCPU), Alomi Sumi, and environmental engineer, Nagaland Pollution Control Board (NPCB), Er. Aghali Swu.


Speaking at the event, Alomi Sumi shared the scope and strategy for district level children’s parliament to collaborate with DCPU/Child Helpline for the safety and security of children in the district.
Er. Aghali Swu enlightened the participants by sharing environmental issues and the role of children in waste management, solutions and measures to tackle environmental issues.


The programme was chaired by the mentor of children’s parliament from St. Mary’s Higher Secondary School, Padumpukhri, Mr. Peteneizo Zao; vice-principal of Carmel Higher Secondary School, Chekiye, Rev. Sr. Shinet led the invocation prayer; DAN director, Rev. Fr. Sajan Joseph delivered the welcome address and also shared the strategic development of children’s parliament with the stakeholders, and senior program officer DAN, Jiji Joseph delivered the concluding remarks and vote of thanks.
The differently-abled children from Angel Home were also represented during the programme. The programme was attended by 54 participants.
After the programme, the general election and assembly of district level children’s parliament was held, wherein representatives from different children’s parliament took part. Vilhouvonuo of Saint John’s School, Diphupar B was elected as the Prime Minister of the district level children’s parliament.
