Association of Kohima Municipal Wards Panchayat (AKMWP) has reiterated the need to observe the SOPs issued by the authority and the list of exemption, especially the staff of Health and Family welfare.
AKMWP president Neibulie Kiewhuo in a press release stated that, multiple reports of COVID-19 detection outside QCs in Kohima was going viral in social media, wherein the AKMWP stated that detection of these cases was primarily due to successful contact tracing. It also stated that Kohima witnessed continued peaceful and total lockdown, with no untoward incidents being reported from any of the wards on Monday.
AKMWP was assured that contact tracing by concerned authority is greatly aided on account of total lockdown. It also gave credit to the citizens and their ward/colony leaders for creating awareness and securing compliance.
While requesting the authorities to advice the staff carrying out identification of documents to merit exemption, the association also informed “none should be allowed to point fingers as an excuse” and that the authorities provide the association with details so that it may be redressed and recurrence of any such alleged instances be prevented.
As an emergency measure, AKMWP also provided essential preventive materials for the ward volunteers and further appealed all the citizens of Kohima to remain calm and continue to cooperate by staying at home during the lockdown period.
