The fifth day of the cultural extravaganza at the 25th Hornbill Festival 2024, at the Naga Heritage Village, Kisama witnessed a vibrant display of Nagaland’s rich tribal heritage.
The event also highlighted Sikkim, the State Partner for this year’s festival. Sikkim’s troupe performed the “Integration Dance,” symbolizing unity, peace, and reverence for the mighty Kanchenjunga, the revered guardian of their land.
The morning session was hosted by minister for Housing & Mechanical Engineering, P. Bashangmongba Chang, and co-hosted by advisor for Fire & Emergency Services, S. Kiusumew Yimchunger, along with chairman of NIDC, Kvulo Lorin. Highlights of event included performances by Sumi cultural troupe: Aphilo Kuwo (warrior dance), Sangtam: Jümürü Mütsahba Sapan (soap making), Pochury: Hohidoh Hohidoh (folk song).
Lotha cultural troupe performed Ole-hoo (Action Song), Phom: Chingtempe (Stilt Walking), Konyak: Kham Shupu Hie Kham Kongpu/Moolao (Log drum pulling & beating), Kachari: Habling Dangbani (Folk Song), Yimkhiung: Wochak Khüntong (cultivation song), Zeliang: commemorative performance, Tikhir: Pow Pokkhin (folk song), Garo: Rong Dea (stone lifting),
Kuki: Zou-Lie Kon (folk dance). Angami cultural troupe delivered the commemorative performance, Ao: Traditional tiger hunting reenactment, Khiamniungan: Hang Tui (friendship dance), Chakhesang: Chüsü Hoo (folk song), Chang: Chishok Lamshok (dance & song of peace treaty) and Rengma: A-ccu Kekawa (indigenous game).
