Dimapur Ao Youth Organisation backs govt’s decision to remove check-gates

Says appropriate stakeholders should be consulted for any modification to May 19 order

While extending support to the State government notification of May 19, 2022 that ordered removal of all check-gates, which curbed illegal collection of money, the Dimapur Ao Youth Organisation (DAYO) however appealed to the government not to succumb to any pressure groups or various vested interest groups that tried to confuse people for their ends.
In a statement, DAYO vice president Imkongsungkum Aier and general secretary Mangyang Jamir said that if any genuine modification or changes had to be made in the notification, appropriate stakeholders, especially business and transport associations, should be taken into confidence including leaders from various tribal apex bodies and communities of Dimapur.
DAYO termed the move as one of the best public welfare decisions made in recent memory, claiming that the citizens were already reaping its fruits as prices of most essential commodities had drastically reduced.
The youth organisation said the historic step taken by the government in tackling the issue of illegal and multiple taxation would go a long way to make a vibrant economy and a revenue-generating State.
Calling upon local entrepreneurs to take this opportune moment to take control of the economy as they compete in an atmosphere of free trade and enterprise, DAYO reiterated its resolute stand against any monopoly or syndicate practices that would not allow new and young entrepreneurs to venture into business.
In order to make Dimapur safe and secured in collaboration with the authority, DAYO said it had been operating helpline no. 8974851911 with monitoring members to response to genuine grievances.
Mentioning that it was the bounden duty of every right-thinking citizen and genuine civil organisations to extend their support and cooperation for such decisive and bold notification, the youth organisation appealed to the general public to stomp their feet and say enough was enough to bear the burden of hyper inflation due to illegal collection of taxes.
DAYO also declared that it would not be a silent spectator but play an active role to see that this historic decision brought the much-needed change at this time of transition in the society. DAYO further reaffirmed its stand on “One Government, One Tax” as people’s mandate to eradicate unabated taxation. “As long as we are under the Constitution of India, we should abide by the GST Act of 2017 that implemented ‘One Nation, One Tax’, DAYO stated.
