Inauguration of the 13th batch of DB Tech, Bosco Academy of Skills and Employment (BASE) was held on May 19 at AIDA training centre with deputy commissioner (DC) Dimapur, Kesonyu Yhome as chief guest.
Speaking at the inaugural programme, the chief guest citing Darwin’s theory ‘Survival of the Fittest’ said “everyone requires skills in order to survive anywhere” and each individual needs to acquire the required skills according to the environment.
Yhome also gave the example of three countries -Japan, South Korea and China- sharing the same race, were skilled and succeeded in capturing the world market today.
He said before South Korea advanced, some fifty years ago, the country was considered extremely poor. Today, he said South Korea has excelled in every field. Yhome said on the other hand, Nagas were nowhere because of they did not like to work and neither posses needed skills.
He said Nagas were satisfied with their condition and therefore, did not put in any efforts or do extra ordinary work to succeed.
Further, Yhome said life was not a bed of roses and it was not an easy journey but one has to struggle in order to survive. He also reminded trainees that to become successful, they have to start with a small step, stay focused and be consistent.
He cited example of business tycoons who did not become successful overnight but consistency had made them become successful entrepreneurs.
Province coordinator Bro. Sunny Joseph shared about Don Bosco Tech Network connecting all over India and the skills training provided by the network at various centres across the country.
He said the objective of the project with was to help and train the rural unemployed youths of the region and help them in getting job across the country.
Don Bosco Tech Nagaland had trained and placed over 3129 candidates in various service industries and the centre aims to trained two million youth in the Country which they called as ‘Mission 2020’ stated Bro. Sunny Joseph.
During the programme one trainees, Jianthailung shared his experienced about the institute. He said life was tough, full of challenges but he has learnt how to cope up with difficulties. He had worked earlier as a security guard but it did not satisfy him since he was lacking skills. He is now undergoing Beauty and Hairstyling at DB Tech. During the second session, parents, staff and trainees meeting was held. During the friendly interaction between the parents and staff, the staff shared about the training programme and rules and regulations of the institute and some parents raised their doubts and scope of their children. All together 40 parents and guardian attended the meeting.
