Discipleship Bible College (DBC) 42nd convocation was conducted on Wednesday at the college premises. The college conferred certificate and awards to 49 students, who graduated in Master of Divinity, 56 in Bachelor of Theology, and one with a Doctor of Ministry.
Additionally, nine students completed the Master of Divinity (Distance Education) program. Degrees were also awarded to 10 students from both the M.Div. and B.Th. programs, and eight students received academic book prizes across various departments.
The convocation was graced by Chakhesang Baptist Church, Dimapur senior pastor Rev Dr P Bonny Resii as speaker. Delivering address, Dr P Bonnuy highlighted on the “The Call of God.” Drawing from the story of Jonah, he emphasized that God’s love and plan of salvation extended even to those considered outsiders or unlovable.
He highlighted that God’s call comes in three distinct ways: the call to salvation, the call to serve, and the call to be equipped. He said the call to salvation is an invitation to turn away from sin and receive eternal life, beginning with transformation on earth.
The call to serve involves actively participating in God’s work and ministry, while the call to be equipped refers to God providing the necessary gifts, tools, and resources to fulfill that calling.
Dr P Bonny stressed the need for continual repentance and self-reflection within Christian communities, urging believers to live lives that reflect genuine transformation, much like Zacchaeus who repented and made amends after encountering Jesus.
He also reminded the graduates that ministry was not merely a position of honor but a calling that demands hard work, compassion, and consistent engagement with people’s lives throughout the week.
He called on the church to support its pastors and leaders, not only spiritually but also materially, emphasizing that ministry was a partnership between the church and its servants. Dr P Bonny also underlined that the goal of Christian ministry was not just church attendance or conversion, but the making of disciples—committed followers of Christ.
Highlights of the event included conferring of awards and certificate which was presided by the academic dean and principal and board chairman. Dedicatory prayer was offered by the speaker and special song by DBC choir.
At the programme, opening prayer was offered by associate professor Dr Imna Imchen, welcome address by DBC acting principal associate professor Dr Narola Walling, scripture from the book of Old Testament was read out by Associate professor Dr Teka and New Testament by associate professor Esther S Jami. The programme concluded with benediction by associate professor Rev. Apok Jamir.
