The two-day Phase I of Euphoria 12th edition of Don Bosco College, Kohima (DBCK), concluded on Friday under the theme “Ethereal: Between Dreams & Reality”.
Chairman of Livingstone Foundation International and president of Nagaland Schools’ Alliance, Dr. Andrew Ahoto Sema, graced the occasion as special guest. Addressing the students, Ahoto encouraged them to dream big and work towards meaningful goals. He highlighted the three S’s associated with money and success—selfish, satisfied and service—urging students not to use success solely for personal gain or become complacent with their achievements, but to serve others and contribute to society.
He also spoke on the three P’s—problem, identifying problems and solving problems—and encouraged students to develop problem-solving skills. Emphasising healthy competition, he urged them to compete without selfishness and sow the seeds for a better future by carrying forward their legacy and sharing their success with others.
Stressing the importance of humanity, unity and service beyond differences, Ahoto used the parable of the weed to underline the need to distinguish between good and bad influences and choose the right friends and environment. He reminded students that they were responsible for shaping their own future and encouraged them to remain cheerful, practise good manners, respect others and strive to become successful and responsible leaders.
The programme was led by Literary and Magazine Secretary of DBCK Students’ Forum (DBCK SF), Eyilobeni Ovung, while General Secretary Atsongnye K. J. delivered the welcome address. Musical performances were presented by Lydia from the Department of Political Science and Menangkokla from the Department of English. Assistant General Secretary of DBCK SF, Sejungli K. Sangtam, proposed the vote of thanks. Prayers were offered by Rector of DBCK, Rev. Fr. Dr. Xavier Mattam, and Assistant Professor in the Department of Political Science, Lhikhwetso Kapfo.
