DC Chümou issues NH-29 monsoon travel advisory

DIMAPUR, JUL 8 (NPN): Deputy Commissioner (DC) Chümoukedima has issued an advisory for commuters travelling along NH-29 stretch from Chathe bridge (Unity Gate) to Tsiedukhru-Khuokhi bridge, Kukidolong, in view of the onset of monsoon season and the increased risk of rockfalls and landslides.
DC urged commuters to exercise extreme caution, particularly during heavy rainfall and at night, when the likelihood of landslides and falling rocks is higher. DC advised motorists to drive with utmost care, follow traffic diversions and strictly adhere to instructions issued by authorities on site. It also stated that the left-hand side carriageway of the four-lane highway may be temporarily closed to traffic without prior notice whenever necessary.
Commuters were further advised not to circulate or rely on unverified information regarding road conditions or incidents and instead follow official updates issued by the competent authorities.
DC appealed to all commuters to cooperate with the administration and adhere to the safety measures.
