Underlying the importance of developing a lifetime reading habit, Deputy Commissioner (DC) Chümoukedima, Abhinav Shivam encouraged students to cultivate reading habit and prioritise reading.
According to DIPR report, the DC was speaking as a resource person at a felicitation cum career guidance seminar for HSLC and HSSLC successful candidates organised by Chümoukedima Town Students Union in collaboration with All Nagaland Private Schools Association (ANPSA)under the theme, “Building the Base”on June 18 at Chümoukedima Town Hall.
“Make reading a habit or priority, as reading helps to let you know more about life, and assess the problems and shortcomings. It can improve one’s reactions, decision-making, and creative imagination,” said Shivam.
Stating that students are the future of tomorrow, the DC said students could bring change in the society and urged them to be responsible citizens.
Stressing on the importance of hard work and strong determination to excel and achieve dreams, Shivam encouraged the students to dream, follow their goals and march ahead with strong conviction and pursue what they firmly believe in as the future awaits those who endure hardships and challenges.
He also advised the students to have a routine in life and also to include sports and hobbies in their daily routine.
Asserting that teachers play a pivotal role in the holistic development of the students, the DC urged the teachers to enable students to see dreams and motivate them to achieve their dreams.
Speaking on the topic,“Higher Education & Career Choices”,Manager, Training & Talent Management, YouthNet, Tsepila Zhimomi urged the students to keep their vision big and develop skills as per their interests.
She said selecting purposeful goals and priorities has the power to put a person on track and on time in the journey to success and advised the students to select their goals with careful thought and planning.
CTSU president encouraged the students to continue their consistency and hard work as it was the only way to success. He further informed that in remembrance of Lt. Kuosalhou Shuya, Head GB, Chümoukedima, a cash prize is to be given every year to the highest scorer in HSLC.He also thanked DC, Chümoukedima, and his wife for sponsoring a meritorious girl of class 11th from North Town Hr. Sec. School.
During the programme, cash prizes and certificates handed out to the HSLC and HSSLC toppers by CTSU and ANPSA.
