DC Chümoukedima orders closure of defaulting FBOs

DIMAPUR, JUL 1 (NPN)

Deputy Commissioner cum chairman of District Level Advisory Committee (DLAC), Chümoukedima District, has ordered closure of defaulting Food Business Operators (FBOs) who have not obtained FSSAI licence.
In an order, DLAC chairman Polan John stated that manufacturers of packaged drinking water were to mandatorily get water sample tested from any of the FSSAI notified laboratory. DC reminded that under Sub-Sec 1 of Sec 31 of the Food Safety & Standards Act, 2006, “No person shall commence or carry on any food business except under a license.” As such, DC said an order was issued for compliance by the FBOs.
However, following the expiry of the extended time i.e. May 31, DC ordered for a total closure of firms against the defaulting FBOs who have not obtained FSSAI licence. DC said such firms shall not place products for sale of human consumption in the market. Further, the concerned manufacturers have been directed to recall the products, supplied to the market without bearing label information.
