Taking note of landslide and continuous erosions at Phesama and the bailey bridges at Kiruphema, Dzubza river and Lower Dzubza bridge, Tsiesema road, the Deputy Commissioner (DC) and District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) Kohima chairman, Rajesh Soundararajan, has directed all the responsible departments including the enforcement agencies like the area administrative officers, PWD, NHIDCL, 15th BRTF, local panchayats etc., to immediately intervene and identify the hazardous areas. DC and DDMA Kohima chairman pointed out that putting the life of the general public and commuters in a situation of risk would cause inconvenience and hardship. In this regard, the DC has called for mitigation of the same to avert major disaster like the recent bridge collapse near Referral Hospital in Dimapur. DC said the directive comes into force with immediate effect for strict compliance and necessary action by all concerned. The responsible HoDs have been asked to submit the action taken report at the earliest to DC office Kohima.
