Deputy Commissioner and president, Indian Red Cross Society Kohima district Branch, Shanavas C has launched the Nikshay Mitra at the short programme held at its office on April 21.
According to a DIPR report, Nikshay Mitra is a digital platform that has revolutionized the way Tuberculosis (TB) patients receive care and support in India. It was an initiative of the Prime Minister of India to eliminate Tuberculosis by 2025. The Pradhan Mantri TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan campaign/ Nikshay 2.0 were virtually launched by President of India on September 9, 2022.
The campaign seeks to garner community support for TB patients through Donors (Nikshay Mitra) in the form of nutritional, vocational and diagnostic support.
It was informed that The Indian Red Cross Society Kohima District Branch will extend nutritional care and support to ten TB patients for a period of six months in the first phase of its campaign. The programme was attended by representatives from the Nagaland State IRCS Branch.
