The district administration has taken serious note of the haphazard wires strung across public places, pipes in drainages causing clogs, construction materials dumped on roads and other eyesore structures in Kohima.
The office of the DC Kohima, through DIPR stated that these practices causes numerous problems like hampering the smooth flow of traffic, movement of pedestrians and most importantly, gives an unclean impression of the city.
Therefore, in the interest of public service and in view of the forthcoming Hornbill Festival the DC has issued a list of directives for the responsible parties, to be complied with before November 10: i) Optical fibre cables/wires/cables are to be properly bunched and laid in a tidy way as per the existing norms with proper permission from the concerned authorities; ii) Water pipes are to be removed from the drains, properly bunched and placed in such a location where it does not hinder drainage in any manner. Cleaning of all the drainages in the city will commence from November 11; iii) Building materials, pigpens, makeshift urinals and other such eyesore structures are to be immediately removed/dismantled by the concerned owners/individuals.
Failure to adhere to this directive will lead to the removal of the said cables, wires, building materials, pigpens, urinals etc. at the cost of the defaulter after November 10.
