Deputy Commissioner & Chairman DDMA Kohima, Mohammed Ali Shihab A has reiterated that the ban on burning of jungles would still remain enforced in Kohima district till further directions.
In an order, DC directed all village councils under Kohima district jurisdiction to inform and warn the public to refrain from burning of jungles which leads to serious loss of public property and also disturbs the ecological balance.
DC warned that any individual/village found violating the order would be strictly penalised under relevant sections of law and would be liable to payment of fines. DC stated that VDB grant to the village would also be withheld till such fines were paid.
